Day 5: Shelly Steinman

For fans of comedian Jim Gaffigan, John R. Emens Auditorium hosted a scavenger hunt this week where people had a chance to win a pair of free tickets every day. Today was the last day of the hunt and the winning voucher was found at Shafer Tower.

Winners received free passes to see Gaffigan perform at 8 p.m. Friday in Emens Auditorium for his “White Bread Tour.”

“The tickets have a higher price and higher demand than the ones we usually have giveaways for,” Kristi Chambers, the auditorium’s marketing assistant, said. “Normally, we don’t get permission to do so … but for this show in particular, we got permission as long as it would be challenging to win the tickets, so we came up with the scavenger hunt.”

There were five chances to win, and four out of the five vouchers were claimed. However, one has yet to be turned in to the box office in exchange for tickets.

Each day, people could answer a post on the Emens Auditorium Facebook page. The trivia questions were from the comedian’s memoir to commercials he has been in.

Once the question was correctly answered, the administrators posted a photo clue of where the paper voucher would be hidden on campus, which someone could nab and then turn in to the box office for tickets.

The voucher for the second scavenger hunt has yet to be claimed. The certificate, with Gaffigan’s photo on it, was at Frog Baby and has still yet to be seen. Chambers said the voucher can still be turned in for tickets.
