Despite losing two veteran players to injury, the Ball State football team defeated Army in commanding fashion over the weekend.
Two key contributors in the 40-14 win have been named Mid-American Conference Players of the Week.
Quarterback Keith Wenning connected with seven receivers in a second consecutive game. The senior gained 325 yards and two touchdowns on 23-32 passing.
With five touchdowns on the season, Wenning has led the Ball State football team to a record 91 points in the season’s first two games.
Defensive tackle Nate Ollie was able to help contain Army’s triple-option offense with his eight tackles on Saturday. Though the Black Knights rushed for 363 yards, just 14 points were given up.
Ollie brought down Army’s Angel Santiago in the backfield – marking the eighth unassisted sack of his career. For Wenning, it was the eighth time in his career passing for 300 yards in a single game.
