OUR VIEW: Register to vote today

You have seven days left. Register.

You don't have to decide today who you're going to vote for. You don't have to decide whether you're even going to vote. But register. Today. Please.

Arguably, it's a civic duty. For some demographics in society, it's a long sought after privilege. It's the first step in how we collectively change the course of our nation's destiny. But besides all that, it's easy.

If you have an Indiana driver's license, you just go online. Answer some questions, fill in some personal information and it's done in less than 10 minutes from your laptop. A few days later, you get a card in the mail confirming your registration.

If you don't have a license or one from this state, you have to register in person. But even then, all it takes is a drive or bus ride to the county building, a short walk into the election office on the first floor and a few strokes of a pen filling out a form.

Registering to vote is an item that can be crossed off the to-do list in an hour break between classes. You might not even have to leave your couch. Furthermore, registering doesn't obligate you to do anything - it only makes it possible for you to vote, if you decide you want to.

So if you haven't yet, register to vote. You've got a week.

You won't regret it.
