State excise officers were out in full force this past weekend in Bloomington, Ind., arresting 188 individuals, more than 100 of which were arrested during the Ball State and IU football game.

Saturday officers arrested 110 people on 129 charges at Memorial Stadium.

An addition 10 people were arrested on 12 charges after the game, eight of which were minors.

106 minors were arrested for illegal consumption. Eight of the minors were under the age of 18, the youngest being 15.

"Regulating the distribution of alcohol is crucial to public safety," Indiana State Excise Superintendent Matt Strittmatter said in a press release. "Our agency will continue to ensure the access of alcohol to minors is limited."

Seven minors were arrested for public intoxication, three were cited for possession of a false ID, one juvenile was arrested for possession of tobacco and two adults were charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor.

Officers arrested two adults on drug-related charges and two for resisting law enforcement.

According to Indiana State Excise Police, Saturday's tailgating arrests were higher than at IU's first home game against Indiana State, which had only 34 minor arrests.

This was the first incident in which officers arrested 110 people on 129 charges during tailgating at any Indiana college.

Throughout the entire weekend, officers arrested 188 people on 231 charges.

State excise officers were working as part of the Intensified College Enforcement program that was launched in Spring 2012.

Officers focus on reducing underage use and possession of alcohol at six college campuses across the state.

Ball State, Butler, Indiana, Indiana State, Purdue and Notre Dame are campuses being targeted by excise.
