Brawl erupts at hearing for ISU shooting suspect

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.- A court hearing for a former Indiana State University student charged in a fatal shooting in a campus parking lot erupted into a fight that briefly forced officials to lock down the Vigo County Courthouse and Terre Haute City Hall.

The Tribune-Star reported the brawl broke out Tuesday in the courthouse where 21-year-old William Mallory was facing charges in the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Dustin Kelly of Terre Haute.

WTHI-TV reported chairs were thrown during Tuesday's altercation but that police quickly restored order.

Police have said Mallory opened fire about 3 a.m. Friday following a disagreement in a bar across the street from the parking lot. Two other men were wounded in the shooting.
