University confirms death near greek house

The Muncie Police Department is looking into a death near a greek house Thursday.

A death occurred within the vicinity of the Phi Sigma Kappa house Thursday afternoon, said Joan Todd, executive director of Public Relations.

A Tweet from The Muncie Star Press indicated the death was an apparent suicide, but Todd could not confirm.

"We're aware of the situation. We don't have the details," she said.

Todd said the university is trying to gather more information about the death and that MPD is handling the case.

MPD Det. Rick Howe said Friday morning that the death is under investigation and he could not comment until later in the afternoon.
