MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: MIVA Tournament Bracket Challenge

So you thought you were done with brackets for a while once the NCAA men's basketball tournament was over? Not this year.

With the MIVA Tournament only a few days away, I've decided to start a bracket challenge competition run by the Ball State Daily News.

Participating is pretty easy. All you have to do is pick up a copy of the Daily News today (Monday, April 16) and turn to page four. Cut out the MIVA Tournament bracket in the middle of the page, fill it out with your picks and bring it down to AJ 278, the Daily News office. Drop it off at the sports desk - the two closest computers to the front of the room - and you'll be entered into the competition.

Entries must be turned in by noon on Thursday, April 19.

The winner of the competition will be decided whoever has the most correct picks in the tournament. That person will receive a prize for his bracket. Unfortunately, I haven't decided what exactly the prize will be, but I promise to release that in the next few weeks. Just trust me that it will be good, and probably volleyball related.

In the event of a tie, the tiebreaker system will be simple; please guess the score of the championship match, including set numbers and points scored in each game. A bracket that is entered without this tiebreaker will still be eligible for the tournament, but if it ties in the championship match, the other ballot will automatically win if it has a tiebreaker.

There are only a couple rules to follow to be fully entered into the Daily News Bracket Challenge:

1. You must put your name on the entry. If I can't find you in the directory or through a Google search, I'm throwing it out.

2. Only one bracket can be submitted per person.

3. Any person can participate. And I mean any. Students, professors, athletes, coaches, media members, even people outside of Ball State and Muncie.

That brings me to my final point. If you are outside of Ball State and do not have access to a copy of the Daily News, you can email me your picks for the tournament instead. Emails can be sent to asmishler@bsu.edu. You only need to fill out a Word document for this part, so please don't bother making any fancy PDFs.

This also can apply to those too lazy to drop a physical ballot off in the newsroom.

Some chosen ballots will be discussed on Thursday's edition of CHIRP TV by myself and Steven Ward. We'll be shooting more episodes than normal through the next few weeks, so keep updated at bsudailynews.com or on my Twitter account, @andrewmishler.

If you have any questions at all, please email me at asmishler@bsu.edu. I'm happy to answer anything you need of me.

Thanks for your participation, and good luck!

Andrew Mishler
