Ind. celebrities craft artwork for heart awareness

INDIANAPOLIS — Some famous Hoosiers will be making a piece of art to raise awareness for American Heart Month.

First Lady Cheri Daniels, former Miss America Katie Stam and Colts tight end Dallas Clark are among the Indiana celebrities who are contributing works of art. Each received a blank canvas and art supplies. Both Clark and Daniels say they started advocating for heart disease awareness after losing their mothers to it.

The American Heart Association is sponsoring the month-long initiative, called "Indy Has Heart." Heart disease and stroke are the number 1 and number 4 causes of death for Americans.

The artwork can be seen at indyhasheart.com . The site also has information about heart disease. You can share pieces by sending a free e-card or purchasing decorated items, like mugs and T-shirts.
