Ball State IT professionals are working to resolve a conflict in a recent email that prevented students from reading the complete message on certain email readers.
The error was because of a flaw in HTML coding that the university uses to send hyperlinks in emails, said Tony Proudfoot, associate vice president for marketing and communications.
Though people using specific versions of Microsoft Outlook were unable to view the complete email, it was still accessible to everyone in its full form on Ball State webmail accounts.
Proudfoot said the error does not reflect larger safety problems, noting that the emergency notification system posts updates on Ball State's website and sends text messages to students when immediate danger is present. Proudfoot also said emails the university sends in emergency situations do not use HTML.
If students continue to have problems with university emails, Proudfoot advises them to contact the Technology HelpDesk.
