Flash mob raises awareness for sustainability

Finals aren't the only thing going on this week. Several dozen students from a project management class in the Miller College of Business staged a flash mob in the Atrium at lunchtime today to promote sustainability.

Professor Sheila Smith said the class project this semester focused on improving Ball State's sustainability report card grade at GreenReportCard.org.

"Currently Ball State has a C-plus," she said.

"I had 14 teams of students in two sections implement projects around campus to help us be more green, more sustainable, (to) teach people about recycle, reuse, reduce."

She said the class performed the flash mob to increase awareness.

"We passed out flyers, brochures that contain tips on how to reuse old items, how to reduce food waste, and just how to make the campus more sustainable," she said.
