MUNCIE, Ind. — The U.S. Postal service said moving its Muncie mail-processing work to Indianapolis would save it an estimated $3.5 million annually and eliminate 41 jobs.
The Postal Service said it's taking public comment on the proposed move and will hold a public meeting to discuss it at 7 p.m. Nov. 30 at the Cornerstone for the Arts in Muncie. It said a final decision on moving the Muncie operations has not been made yet.
The impact for Muncie postal customers includes possible changes in collection box pick-up times and a 2-3-day service standard for first-class mail.
Public comments will be accepted through Dec. 15. They should be addressed to Manager, Consumer and Industry Contact, Greater Indiana District, 3939 Vincennes Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46298-9661.
