Ball State University Dance Marathon will auction off its male contestants for dates tonight at its 3rd annual Date Auction.
The auction will raise money for BSUDM, which will, in turn, raise money for patients at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
The event's theme is "‘Merica", meaning that contests and attendees are encouraged to wear red, white and blue to the event.
The entry fee for those wearing red, white and blue will be $1. For all others, entry will cost $2.
The event will be in the Fine Arts Building room 217 at 7 p.m.
Co-director Sarah Smith, junior elementary education and special education major, said the event will be one to remember.
"I'm hoping we make at least $1,500 or more this year," Smith said. "Everyone should dress up in their red, white and blue and come out to support it. It's going to be a great night."
Male students will be available to be bid on by those in the audience. The date choices will each walk out to a song that they have chosen and random facts will be given about each one. Each date will be given to the highest bidder in the audience.
BSUDM President Michael Bramer hopes the event can come close to the $2,000 the auction raised in last year's auction.
"We're at 26 guys this year, which means we cut off a little bit from last year," Bramer, senior architecture major, said. "We're still hoping this can be pretty successful. We have about 275 people that said they were going over Facebook."
Those who wish to sign up to be bid on in the date auction may do so upon entry before the event begins.
