Jackson tribute band to perform at Emens for Family Weekend

Ball State students and their guests for Family Weekend will have a chance to experience a tribute to the King of Pop.

Michael Jackson tribute band Who's Bad will perform hits Friday at 7:30 p.m. in John R. Emens Auditorium.

Wearing glittery gloves and jackets, the band will dance to songs originally performed by the Jackson 5 and songs from Jackson's solo career, including his hit "Thriller."

Bob Myers, Emens director, said the show will be a chance for students and their families to experience Jackson once again through music and dance.

"This concert was overwhelmingly recommended as having strong appeal to the target audience segments of both BSU students, parents and younger siblings," he said.

Who's Bad was founded in 2004 and has traveled throughout the world. They have shared the stage with Aretha Franklin, Boyz II Men, the Backstreet Boys and the Four Tops, according to the band's website.

Tickets are selling fast and many students are inviting their family and friends to the concert, Darcy Wood, associate director and marketing for Emens, said.

"The responses to the ticket office have been positive," Wood said. "We hope this is a show that students will be excited to attend. Currently there are 765 tickets out [and] we anticipate selling a few hundred more before the event."

Tickets for students are $5 in advance and $10 at the door. Adult tickets care $12 and youth tickets are $5.
