The State Fire Marshal has determined that the fire at Tabernacle of Praise Church in Muncie was caused by a lightning strike on the southwest end of the sanctuary, according to a press release from Fire Chief Sean Burcham.
The fire took place June 15, and firefighter Scott Davis died in the line of duty as he tried to fight the flames.
The congregation resumed services on June 20 from a large outdoor tent.
