The city of Muncie is continuing to pay tribute to a firefighter who died while responding to a fire at Tabernacle of Praise Church on Wednesday.
City officials are expecting thousands of guests this week for services planned for Scott Davis, according to a press release from Mayor Sharon McShurley's office.
City offices will be closed Tuesday as a community display of honor and appreciation and to allow employees to show their personal respect for the loss of a dedicated public servant, the press release said.
A funeral service and procession will be held on Tuesday, according to a press release from the City of Muncie Fire Department.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. at the Horizon Center and the funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. The procession will leave the Horizon Center at 1 p.m. and will stop at Muncie Fire Station 1 for the last alarm/bell ceremony.
The procession will continue to Elm Ridge Cemetery for the burial.
A wreath was placed in the Muncie Firefighters Memorial park located at the corner of Willard and Hoyt streets across from Muncie Fire Station 3 for people to visit and honor the commitment to serve.
The City of Muncie is also hosting a Facebook page so the public can pay tribute to and honor fallen firefighter Scott Davis.
So far, the fire at Tabernacle of Praise Church doesn't appear to be of a suspicious nature, according to a press release, but due to the ongoing investigation, not all information is being released yet.
