SOFTBALL: Ball State powers past Georgetown, Delaware

Ball State came into the Radford Tournament Friday looking for better run support and pitching.

At the end of the day, that is exactly what the Ball State softball team received. It defeated both Georgetown and Delaware by a combined score of 19-3.

In their first game against Delaware, Ball State tallied 11 runs and 15 hits while the pitching staff gave up 3 runs in seven innings of work.

Sophomore pitcher Audra Sanders picked up the win for the Cardinals, giving up four hits and three runs in five innings pitched.

In the evening game against Georgetown, Ball State continued their offensive surge, scoring eight runs on seven hits.

Junior right-hander Audrey Workman pitched five shutout innings for the Cardinals against the Hoyas, giving up two hits and striking out seven batters.

Senior shortstop Alicia Barkley led the charge offensively for the Cardinals, going 7-7 on the day with three runs scored and an RBI.

The Cardinals continue play in the Radford Tournament Saturday against Pittsburgh and tournament host Radford. First pitch is at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
