REVIEW REDEUX: Remembering the legacy of Elizabeth Taylor

As the news "Elizabeth Taylor dead at age 79" flashed before my eyes, I was silenced. Elizabeth Taylor, one of my favorite actresses, was gone.

Before Angelina Jolie, there was Taylor. A beauty icon. A tabloid magnet. An Academy Award-winning actress. To millions around the world, she was the most beautiful actress to grace the silver screen, but to me, she was an inspiration.

As a pale dark haired adolescent with thick dark eyebrows, I did not relate well to my tanned, highly plucked counterparts. In Taylor, I found a beauty icon.

Wishing to be an actress as a child, she was more than just a beauty icon to me. At the time she epitomized everything that I thought an actress should be: beautiful, graceful, confident and talented.
