Delta Tau Delta raises $1530 at Army Games

Greek organizations united to participate in fun army related activities to honor a Delta Tau Delta brother who was lost to post traumatic stress disorder.

Because West Field is flooded, Army Games was moved last minute from West Field to the front yard of the DTD house.

DTD philanthrophy chair Clayton Barns said he was impressed that both the National Panhellenic Council, Panhellenic Council and Interfraternity Coucil came out to honor their lost brother.

"It is great to have boundaries dropped," he said. "This is the first time I've ever seen this. It is great to see us all work as a whole rather than just NPHC, PHC and IFC."

Teams of six from different greek organizations competed in competitions like tug-o-war, obstacle courses, grenade throws, army crawls and rock wall climbing.

Teams had to pay between $50 and $60 to participate depending on when they signed up. All proceeds were went to Indianapolis Veteran Affairs Medical Center and the Ronald McDonald Veteran House.

DTD raised a total of $1530 for these organizations. DTD paid for all of the activities out of pocket.

Kira Cole of Alpha Phi Omega said philanthrophic events such as Army Games are good opportunity for greek organizations to work together.

"People overlook [post traumatic stress disorder], and they don't really think about it being important," she said. "I think it is great because it brings us together with greek unity."
