INDIANAPOLIS — Young Egyptians in Indianapolis are celebrating the ouster of Hosni Mubarak as president of that nation and what they hope will be democracy, liberty and prosperity there.
A dozen people gathered Saturday on Monument Circle at the heart of the city, chanting, "Long live Egypt, long live liberty!" and "One, two, three, Egypt is free!"
Amna Awad, a 21-year-old philosophy student who spent her first 10 years in Egypt, says she organized the Indianapolis rally after being inspired and motivated by people in the streets of Cairo and other Egyptian cities the last few weeks.
Ahmed Elessawy, a 29-year-old pharmacist intern, left Egypt two years ago because he couldn't support a family there. He hopes to work in both Egypt and the U.S. in the future.
