WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Alyssa Rio named Libero of the Year

The season may have ended in November, but senior libero Alyssa Rio continues to be recognized for her success at Ball State.

Rio was named the Collegiate Volleyball Update Libero of the Year, topping defenders from Villanova, Rice, Valparaiso and Drake.

The senior helped lead Ball State to a 24-win season and a regular-season Mid-American Conference championship.

Rio is the second Cardinal to be given the distinction of Libero of the Year. Amanda McCormick was the first.

For more on the Rio, the award and her reaction, check Tuesday's issue of The Ball State Daily News.
