WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING: Two school records set in MAC championships

Ball State in seventh place after first day of competition

The 2011 women's swimming and diving team set two school records in the first day of the Mid-American Conference Championships on Wednesday night at Ohio.

The first event was the 200-yard medley relay. The Ball State squad of Nicole Saulters, Bridgette Ruehl, Maria Gramelspacher and Mallory Przybylinski took sixth out of eight teams with a school-record time of 1:43.19.  

The second event was the 800 freestyle relay. The Cardinals' team of Emily Wisolek, Jillian Bischoff, Haley Richter and Katie Bylsma took eighth with a time of 7:32.35. The performance was the best in Ball State history by nearly two seconds.

After two events, Ball State stands in seventh out of eight teams with 48 points.

The MAC championships will continue today with two sessions, including five finals in the evening session.
