UPDATE: Police: Gunman on Tennessee campus apprehended

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Police say they have apprehended the person suspected of shooting someone in the hand on a Tennessee university campus.

Middle Tennessee State police Lt. Jim Fangey said Monday that information coming into his office indicated Murfreesboro City Police caught the suspect in the aerospace building. City police had been helping campus police.

Fangey said two students had been arguing when one pulled out a gun and shot the other. He said the victim was shot in the hand and that the wound is minor.

A campus alert was issued around noon, notifying students and staff members of the shooting and telling them to stay where they were. A subsequent e-mail from the university canceled the alert and said the weapon was confiscated.
