Daniels speaks at Washington conservative conference

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels will have a high-profile day in Washington among fellow possible Republican presidential candidates.

Daniels is to speak Friday night at the Conservative Political Action Conference that has drawn thousands of conservatives eager to help a GOP challenger deny President Barack Obama a second term.

Daniels declined Thursday to preview his speech. He has said he won't announce a decision on a White House bid until after the Indiana Legislature wraps up in April and that his acceptance of the invitation isn't a sign of how he's leaning.

Daniels' spokeswoman said he was flying to Washington on Thursday and returning Saturday morning without attending any other events in the nation's capital.
