Cold temperatures and rain are sweeping through East Central Indiana, including Muncie, after a week of warm, sunny weather.
A winter weather advisory was in effect for much of east central Indiana last night until 9 p.m., with snow and rain precipitation likely all evening. Up to one-fourth of an inch of ice could accumulate in some areas.
The National Weather Service said drivers and pedestrians should watch for ice-covered snow. Sidewalks and roads may be slippery in some places. Tree limbs and branches could fall as well, especially if the wind picks up.
There is no warm up in sight for the next seven days, meteorologist Michael Koch of the NWS said. There is a chance for light rain or snow everyday this week, with temperatures hovering around the 30s and 40s.
However, these colder temperatures are nothing unusual according to Koch. He said the average high for this time of year is 42 degrees.
