Ball State area placed under winter weather advisory

The National Weather Service has placed the Muncie area under a winter weather advisory starting at 1 p.m.

Freezing rain on Monday could make roads and sidewalks slippery. People traveling should take precautions for potentially icy areas.

The worst conditions are projected for this afternoon and early evening. On Monday night, the freezing rain will turn to snow.

A tenth of an inch of ice accumulation on trees and power lines is also forecast.

The advisory will be in effect until 9 p.m.
