MEN'S TENNIS: Cardinals placed third in preseason poll

In a preseason poll conducted by the Mid-American Conference men's tennis coaches, Ball State was picked to finish in third place in the conference.

Western Michigan was tabbed as the unanimous favorite to win both the regular season and MAC Tournament titles.

All five first-place votes went to Western Michigan, giving them a total of 30 points. Buffalo came in second with 23 points and Ball State in third place with 22.

After opening the season with a loss at Northwestern, Ball State was able to knock off IPFW and Eastern Illinois on Sunday, putting its record at 2-1.

Sophomore Dalton Albertin has led the Cardinals so far, winning both of the No. 1 singles matches Sunday in two sets. He also teamed up with Austin Smith to win a doubles match against Eastern Illinois.

Ball State will host Xavier on Saturday.
