Parents and siblings of Ball State students will be swarming campus this weekend. This time, students and their families will be eligible to receive prizes for visiting the Village.
As a part of this year's Family Weekend, Student Government Association is sponsoring a Village open house.
The open house is designed to bring families into the Village to see recent changes and to shop in the area right off campus.
"The goal is to see families and students heading down to the Village on a Friday night," SGA President Matthew Whitlock said.
The event will include inflatables and a Village scavenger hunt. The first 100 people to complete the scavenger hunt will receive free food from Scotty's Brewhouse.
Whitney Hamblin, SGA vice president, said the Village open house was one of Student Connection's platform points for the semester.
"We are excited to see draw the public into the Village so they can see what it offers Ball State students," she said.
Another platform point the slate is in the process of fulfilling is its "Write in to Win" contest.
The essay contest is open to Ball State students and the winners will be chosen Oct. 26. Essays are due Oct. 25 and can be turned in online at bsu.edu/sga or at the SGA office located in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center.
"We sent an e-mail blast last Tuesday. We have had four applicants so far," Hamblin said. "We are waiting on more applications to come in and will review those on Oct. 26."
The winner of the essay contest will attend the Nov. 6 football game against Akron with President Jo Ann Gora.
