As reported in detail Tuesday in the Ball State Daily News, I was arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct on Sunday morning in downtown Muncie. I am writing today to express my sincere apologies for the embarrassment I have caused my fellow students, colleagues, professors, staff, and the institution as a whole.
My actions were not representative of the character expected of students at Ball State University, the Graduate School, and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management. I will accept any punishment that the university decides is appropriate for my inexcusable actions.
I'd further like to apologize to the employees and patrons of Ricker's Gas Station. Finally, I'd like to apologize to the Muncie police and thank them for their professionalism, despite my lack of reciprocating respect.
Again, I am deeply sorry to everyone and hope that the university community can find a way to forgive me for my heinous and inappropriate actions.
Deepest Apologies,
Lanette Erby
