Ball State students will have the opportunity to enjoy one last day of summer today from 3 to 7 p.m. at University Green.
University Program Board will host Splash Bash, an event that will feature an inflatable pool and giant hamster balls students can climb into and race. Food, mocktails, tie-dye T-shirts and other games will also be featured at the event.
Dillon Kimmel, vice president of marketing for UPB, said the weather inspired them to hold the event.
"It's during the last days of summer, and it's supposed to be 92 degrees on Thursday, so the weather cooperated with us," he said.
Although it's the first time UPB has organized a Splash Bash, Kimmel said it has had similar events in the past.
"We started with the concept of having an event in September as another outdoor summer event," he said. "We were looking for activities that matched the theme and the weather."
Kimmel said that because of the time of the day and the weather, he expects many students to attend.
"We expect a really big turnout," he said. "There will be some students coming to check the event, but we'll probably see a lot of students walking from class to class, who might just stop to get a hot dog on their way."
The event is free for Ball State students.
