Police search for woman after armed robbery

A woman robbed the Marathon gas station on the corner of Godman and Tillotson avenues Wednesday night.

Kevin Herron, who was working when the woman committed the robbery, said he was smoking outside when the robber approached the entrance. When Herron saw she was wearing a mask and hood, he told her she could not enter with her face covered. He said she pulled a gun from her hoodie pocket told him to walk in.

Herron said she took a "few $20 bills," got in her car and drove away. Herron called police officers once she had left.

The woman drove to Nichols Street and pulled over on an alley parallel to Jackson Avenue. She then left her vehicle and fled, police said.

The abandoned car was left next to the house of Jacob Kirk, a Muncie resident.

Kirk said he had some friends over when a police officer pulled up to the alley in search of the woman.

"I came out and asked a cop, and he told me that this was a crime scene and they were searching for clues," he said. "They blocked the intersection. They were flying down this way. They were walking down the alleyway. It was just great."

Police were able to find a ski mask and a weapon. They are still looking for the suspect.
