IU receives $4M grant for new health information center

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Indiana University is getting a $4 million grant to open a new center devoted to studying the growing use of personal health information.

IU will use its Lilly Endowment grant to open its news Center for Law, Ethics and Applied Research in Health Information. The school says the Bloomington center is needed because health information is being created and collected digitally today at a faster rate than ever before.

The center's researchers will study the ethical, legal and social issues posed by the adoption of personal health information technologies. IU says the center will tap into the school's expertise in health sciences, information technology, law and other disciplines.
