Ball State received six points in this week's field hockey coaches' poll.
The Cardinals are 3-1 this season after a pair of home wins last weekend. Ball State is one of three Mid-American Conference teams to receive votes this week, joining Miami and Kent State.
Though it is not enough points to be ranked in the Top 20, it is a big step for a program that won six games in the past two seasons combined.
North Carolina remains atop the poll after starting the season 3-0.
Ball State will visit Northwestern on Friday and Iowa on Saturday. Both schools also received votes in this week's poll.
