Facebook helping the Ball State football team

Zach Brubaker graduated from Ball State in May, but he is still actively supporting the Cardinals, with the creation of a Facebook event for Thursday's football game against Southeast Missouri State.

"I wanted students to know what was going on," Brubaker said.

Brubaker created the event as a red out because students have usually worn red to Ball State's home openers. The university had other ideas with a white out.

"Well, that was a trip," Brubaker said. "I thought it would be a red out because it seems that the first game usually is, but I soon learned that President Gora and Coach Parrish had promoted a white out during orientation week, so I decided to change the event based on the initial promotion."

Two days before the game, the event has more than 1,800 confirmed guests.

"I mean a sell-out would be nice," Brubaker said. "But, I mean, a solid student section of 6,000-7,000 would be great."

As a student, Brubaker has created Facebook events for other Ball State's programs, including men's volleyball. As an alum, Brubaker remains at Ball State.  He is interning with Campus Crusade for Christ.

"I will always be a Cardinal," Brubaker said. "I just hope a lot of people show up and that the team plays well."
