SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Evan Bayh says fellow Democrat Brad Ellsworth is the right person to replace him in the U.S. Senate.
Bayh said during a South Bend news conference that he and Ellsworth have similar views on controlling federal spending and growing the economy. The two Democrats are traveling together Friday to four Indiana cities in their first trip together of the Senate campaign.
Bayh said he'll do whatever Ellsworth asks of him in the last weeks ahead of the Nov. 2 election against Republican Dan Coats.
Bayh is retiring after 12 years in the Senate.
