The Ball State University men's golf team has a lot of ground to make up if it wants to have a respectable showing heading into the final round of the Mid-American Conference Championships.
The Cardinals currently sit in last place out of nine teams after shooting a combined 922 in the first three rounds of the MAC Championships, which are being held this season at Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio. The University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University are four strokes ahead of Ball State, tied for seventh place with 918.
Kent State University currently leads the pack with an 860.
The Cardinals currently have two golfers sitting in the top-20 standings individually. TJ Carpenter's 225 after three rounds ties him for 14th place, while Eric Steger's 227 is tied for 17th.
The final 18 holes of the MAC Championships will be played today.
