Walk a Mile in Her Shoes canceled

Walk a mile in her shoes, an event which gives the opportunity for men to educate the community about sexualized violence by walking a mile in women's high-heeled shoes, has been canceled for today due to the weather.

The event has been rescheduled for April 14 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at LaFollette Field.

Alexis Mae, chair of registration, said about 60 people had already committed to walk today. She said she sent a notification a reminder to those who had already signed up.

"It think with this opportunity and hopefully good weather next week more people will show up," she said. "We have another week to recruit."

East Central Indiana, including Delaware County, should expect thunderstorms to become numerous this afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Strong winds and brief heavy rain along with large hail are also expected in the East Central Indiana area.

"Frequently deadly cloud to ground lightning will be threats and an isolated brief tornado or two can not be ruled out," the NWS said.
