The Ball State University track and field teams went into the weekend without having to worry about scoring in all events. Most of them had to focus on just one event. Better yet, they did not have to keep track of the score this time.
In the non-scored Stan Lyons Invitational on the campus of IUPUI, four Cardinals won events out of a possible 11.
Senior Jenna Schmitmeyer won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.91, which was also a personal record. Senior Tyra Schantz won the hammer throw with a toss of 46.50 meters, junior Megan Cherry won the triple jump with a distance of 10.90 meters and junior Thekla Lorenz won the long jump event with a distance of 5.83 meters.
Other notable finishes include senior Ali Bishel, who finished third in the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:37.02. Junior Ra'Jae Marable finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.76 and sophomore Renyae Owsley finished fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.54.
Ball State ran against the likes of Xavier (Ohio) University, Loyola (Ill.) University, Bradley University, Saginaw Valley State University, University of Indianapolis and host Butler University.
The next meet for the Cardinals will be the Pacesetter Invitational on the campus of Indiana State University. The event will take place Saturday, May 1.
