'My Name is Jerry' to have Ball State premiere tonight

The product of Ball State University's first venture into the feature film realm will have its on-campus premiere tonight.

The film "My Name is Jerry" is premiering on campus at 7:30 p.m. in the Arts and Journalism building Room 175.

Director Morgan Mead, producer Roger Smith and some of the Ball State students who worked on the film as editors, grips, production assistants, public relations and designers will be available to answer questions afterward.

The College of Fine Arts produced the film that was filmed in Muncie and Indianapolis and stars Ball State alumnus Doug Jones.

Jones plays Jerry, a 40-year-old door-to-door salesman who discovers a new world through a chance encounter with a group of punk rockers.

Jones' past credits include the "Hellboy" films, "Pan's Labyrinth," and "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer."

"Jerry" has screened at multiple film festivals around the world. It won Best Film, Score, and Supporting Actress at the International Filmmakers Festival in Kent, England; Best Feature Film at the Santa Clarita Valley Film Festival in California; as well as Best Feature Comedy at the Route 66 Film Festival in Springfield, Ill. It was an Official Selection at the Heartland Film Festival in Indianapolis.

The screening is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.
