Minnetrista will end its 20th annual Juried Art Show and Sale on Sunday after almost three months.
The art show began on Feb. 22, allowing artists from all over East Central Indiana to submit their work. Judges decided which artists would appear in the showcase, which hosts a wide variety of works including pottery, painting and jewelry.
This year's judge was Brian Byrn, curator of exhibitions and education at the Midwest Museum of American Art in Elkhart.
The selected works remain on display, and observers are able to buy a piece or two. After Sunday, the exhibit will be taken down.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary, Minnetrista introduced a catalog of the artwork selected for the show.
There were two divisions in the judging process: professional and avocational.
The first place winner in the professional division was "Serving Orids" by Kimberly Anderson. In the avocational division, "Self Untied" by Joshua McGarvey won the first place prize.
Amanda Hicks, marketing manager for Minnetrista, said the show is much more popular at its beginning. During the opening reception in February, 125 people showed up to check out the artwork.
Hicks said she doesn't know yet how many pieces of work were sold this year because Minnetrista calculates those numbers when the exhibit ends. However, she said every year varies greatly.
"It's all over the place," she said. "Sometimes, we will sell two. Other times, we'll sell almost all of them."
The Juried Art Show will be on display at Minnetrista today through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Sunday will be the last day visitors will be able to purchase art.
