COLUMBUS, Ohio — Senior outside attacker Matt Sprague will start for No. 13 Ball State University in its conference tournament semifinals match against No. 10 Ohio State University on Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio.
Ball State coach Joel Walton said before the match that he was unsure who he would start alongside Lee Meyer at the left outside attacker positions.
Sprague, who has battled through an ankle injury this year, has started the last three matches for the Cardinals. The senior had five kills and four blocks in Ball State's sweep against IPFW in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Tournament quarterfinals.
Sprague will start in place of freshman outside attacker Larry Wrather.
Wrather had started 15 matches for the Cardinals and was sixth on the active roster in kills per game. However, Wrather was pulled midway through Ball State's last match against Ohio State on April 16 after having a negative attack percentage.
