MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: No. 15 Ball State sweeps No. 13 Loyola in regular season finale

The No. 15 Ball State men's volleyball team ended its regular season the exact opposite of how it started.

After being swept by No. 13 Loyola University in the season opener, the Cardinals swept the Ramblers 30-25, 30-28, 30-28 in their regular season finale Saturday at Worthen Arena.

Ball Sate out-hit Loyola .364 to .267 and had a season-high .731 attack percentage in the first game.

The Cardinals (18-10, 7-5 Midwestern intercollegiate Volleyball Association) had three players with more than 10 kills. Outside attacker Eric Schulte had a match-high and career-high 15 kills and middle attacker Anders Nelson had 13 kills.

In addition, middle attacker J.D. Gasparovic was one-block short of a double-double with 12 kills and nine blocks.

With this victory, Ball State clinches the No. 4 seed for the conference tournament and will play IPFW in the quarterfinals on Saturday at Worthen Arena.

Loyola (18-5, 10-2 MIVA) will be the No. 2 seed and will play last-place Grand Canyon in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
