The No. 13 Ball State University men's volleyball team is one game away from a rematch against No. 10 Ohio State University in the conference tournament.
Ball State defeated IPFW 30-28, 30- to take a two-game lead in their Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Tournament quarterfinals match on Saturday at Worthen Arena.
The Cardinals two all-conference middle attackers have the lead the team offensively in the first two games.
Middle attacker J.D. Gasparovic has a match-high nine kills and five blocks in the first two games. As a junior, Gasparovic was named to the First-Team All-MIVA on Thursday for the second time in his career.
Middle attacker Anders Nelson, a Second-Team All-MIVA member, and outside attacker Eric Schulte each have seven kills.
IPFW outside attacker Elon Fyfield also has a match-high nine kills.
Ball State out-hit IPFW .371 to .145 in the first two games, including holding the Mastodons (12-16, 4-8 MIVA) to a .081 attack percentage in the first game.
The winner of this match will play the two-time defending MIVA champions Ohio State in the conference tournament semifinals Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio.
