COLUMBUS, Ohio — For the fourth straight season, the No. 13 Ball State University men's volleyball team could not get past Ohio State University in the conference tournament.
The Cardinals lost to the No. 10 Buckeyes 30-24, 27-30, 30-28, 30-27 in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Tournament semifinals on Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio, to end their season.
Ohio State had two players with more than 10 kills. Outside attacker Shawn Sangrey had match-high 27 kills and outside attacker John Klanac had 14 kills.
Outside attacker Matt Sprague lead Ball State with 14 kills.
Ohio State will advance to the MIVA Tournament championship for the fourth straight year. The Buckeyes have defeated the Cardinals the last two years in the conference championship match.
Ball State has not won a MIVA championship since 2002 — its longest drought in the program's 49-year history.
