INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The U.S. Department of Labor says it is awarding Indiana a $3.5 million emergency grant to provide services to workers hit by layoffs in the recreational vehicle industry.
The grant announced Wednesday is part of $10.3 million in aid approved in September 2008, of which $3.5 million was initially released to assist about 900 of the more than 2,000 workers affected by RV layoffs.
Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis says the grant will help the state provide training and re-employment services to help about 1,000 workers find new jobs.
