NASW to celebrate social work month

The National Association of Social Workers of region 5 in Indiana will meet on March 31 at 11:45 a.m. in Ball Memorial Hospital to celebrate social work month. The theme of this year's celebration is "Social workers inspire community action."

The celebration consists of a workshop, in which Integra Specialty Hospital Administrator James Wesp will be the speaker.

Josephine Hughes, executive director of NAWS Indiana chapter, said the organization tries to have at least one activity for each of the regions in the state.

Region 5, which consists of Blackford, Delaware, Fayette, Grant, Henry, Jay, Madison, Randolph, Rush, Union, and Wayne counties, has 262 members. Members and non-members are invited to go to the workshop but non-members have to pay a fee.

The NASW has nearly 154,000 members, about 3,100 of the members being Indiana residents.
