Muncie continues to be under a winter storm warning, expecting an additional 1 to 3 inches of snow to fall tonight with wind gusts around 35 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
Total storm snowfall will reach 4 to 7 inches tonight through tomorrow.
After a day of remaining in full operation, Kevin Kenyon, associate vice president for Facilities Planning and Management, said the Ball State University facilities crew will continue to operate tonight until 7 p.m. and will start again tomorrow morning.
"We did well today, with no major issues," he said. "What we expected was something missed on the forecast."
On campus, snow accumulation reached up to 3 inches, which started melting in the afternoon, Kenyon said.
"This is the kind of snow that could go hours and hours and it won't accumulate," he said.
Kenyon said unless an unpredicted event occurred, the facilities staff will follow normal procedures.
"If we get more than an inch tonight, I would be surprised," he said.
The winter storm warning remains in effect until Wednesday afternoon, according to the weather service.
"Roads will remain slick. Strong winds will create blowing and drifting snow tonight and Wednesday, with near whiteout conditions possible at times in rural areas," the NWS said.
