After a one week absence, the Ball State University men's volleyball team is once receiving votes in the coaches poll.
The Cardinals received two votes but remain outside the newest top 15 coaches poll released Monday night.
Ball State (8-4, 2-3 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) is listed at No. 16 — receiving 27 fewer votes than No. 15 Lewis University. The team split its two-match road trip during the weekend with a three-game loss to No. 7 Penn State University and a four-game victory against unranked St. Francis University.
In last week's poll Ball State received no votes to end its streak of receiving votes in 38 consecutive coaches poll. The zero votes came two days after Ball State lost to Quincy University, a Division II team, for the first time since 2001.
Sitting at fourth place in the MIVA, Ball State will play a conference match against unranked IPFW at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Worthen Arena.
The coaches poll is a weekly poll comprised of 16 voters, including Ball State coach Joel Walton.
Three MIVA teams were ranked in this week's poll.
Loyola University received 69 votes — five more votes than last week's poll — to remain at No. 12, and Ohio State University received 46 votes for the second consecutive week to stay at No. 13. In addition, Lewis remained at No. 15 with 29 votes — one more than last week.
