MEN'S BASKETBALL: Ball State loses to Toledo

Rockets earn first win in 20 games; first MAC win of season

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Ball State University men's basketball team suffered a 45-42 loss at the University of Toledo tonight at Savage Arena.

The win for the Rockets (4-26) snaps a 19-game losing streak and is their first in Mid-American Conference play in 15 games this season.

The Cardinals (15-13, 8-7 MAC) shot 15.8 percent from the field in the first half and 26.7 percent for the game, including 1-of-12 (8.3 percent) from 3-point land.

"We played tentative, really, on both ends of the floor," Ball State coach Billy Taylor said." I don't think it was necessarily disrespect of our opponent, we just looked like a team that was scared to really go out and compete."

Sophomore center Jarrod Jones had 13 points and 11 rebounds for Ball State, while sophomore guard Randy Davis added a game-high 14 points and eight rebounds.

Forward Justin Anyijong had a team-high 13 points and seven rebounds for Toledo.
