Career panel to teach about job searching

Students looking to learn about making themselves marketable to employers after graduation can hear from a group of people who have successfully done so.

Communications Professional Network will have a career panel, featuring five professionals from communications and media fields, at 7 p.m. in the Art and Journalism Building Room 175.

Senior journalism major Shayla Kiser, president of CPN, said the group likes to focus on networking and this event should help students, primarily those in the College of Communication, Information, and Media, with building networks and relationships with employers and other people in their field.

Glendal Jones, director of communications for Rep. Andre Carson; Crista Tharp, owner of Tharp Events; Scott Evans, the face of My Indy TV; Erik Deckers, vice president of operations and creative services at ProBlogService.com; and Rob Higley, president and senior brand manager at reveal consulting will be on the panel.

Kiser said she started CPN this semester because she wanted to have a way for CCIM students to get help with searching for jobs and internships.

While the event is aimed at students in CCIM, it is open to the rest of the university.
