The Ball State University Student Gallery at the L.A. Pittenger Student Center reopened today after a semester under renovation.
The gallery will be under the administration of the Fine Arts League, an academic art club for students in any art discipline.
Jonathan Strong, secretary of the Fine Arts League, said having the gallery run by members of the club will give art students more experience as they will be in charge of planning, organizing and changing the displays every month.
'It gives us responsibilities and the experience necessary,' he said. 'In this gallery we'll be doing jobs we'll do as professionals.'
Cat Lynch, president of the Fine Arts League said she wants to see more art students participating at the gallery this semester.
'I would like them to see the space and realize that they have a place where they can display their work.' she said. 'I want them to use that space.'
The gallery will have an opening reception Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. It will be open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
